Shelter Plus Care Advisory Board

Cuyahoga County has received numerous Shelter Plus Care (S+C) Grants from the U.S. department of Housing & Urban Development. S+C provides a rental subsidy for homeless persons with disabilities. Persons with mental health, chemical addiction, and /or HIV AIDS are eligible for the rent subsidy.

Referrals are made to the program by contract agencies of the main stream behavioral health systems and the VA. An oversight board comprised of representatives of the behavioral health systems, the VA, the County Office of Homeless Services, and residents of the S+C program meets on a quarterly basis to review program performance, discuss and make policy, and provide monitoring of the program implementation.
