Why We Count: Homeless Youth in America
Youth Count 2013
In January 2013, Cuyahoga County was one of nine U.S. communities chosen to participate in Youth Count! "Youth Count" was an initiative to count the number of homeless youth under the age of 25 on the evening of January 22, 2013. Additionally, the purpose of "Youth Count" was to obtain information about youth experiencing homelessness and also those lacking stable, permanent housing (i.e. couch surfing with friends or relatives or doubling/tripling). This was the first time officials attempted to understand the depth of the homeless youth problem. The video provides a brief description of the local Youth Count held in Cuyahoga County by participating agencies and feedback from youth volunteers.
